Witness the remarkable journey of a severely injured street cat as it undergoes a miraculous transformation, emerging as a perfectly healthy and thriving adult feline
Pippin was discovered on the street when he was just 4 weeks old. His left hind leg was severed, and he needed urgent medical attention. His rescuer, named Luka, dropped him off at the RSPCA shelter in Londsale , located in South Australia. But Pippin’s case required very expensive surgery…
When Pippin arrived at the shelter, volunteers noticed that he had a sore leg, where you could see his bone. To save him and allow him to live normally, he had to undergo an amputation. However, he had run out of street food, and was particularly skinny. It weighed only 340 grams, which was too little to proceed to an immediate operation. In addition, the shelter had to raise enough money to be able to carry it out.
Pippin was placed under surveillance, and a collection of donations was organized
For a few weeks, Pippin was placed in foster care, under close surveillance. His wound had been stitched up to prevent it from becoming infected. The people who took care of him had to help him eat and gain weight, and ensure that the condition of his wound did not deteriorate.
At the same time, the shelter launched a call for donations to finance the surgery. Thanks to the generosity of Australians, nearly 1000 euros were collected.
A successful operation
When Pippin was old enough, he was able to have surgery. Everything went very well, and he was ready to be adopted.
The volunteers contacted Luka first. As he was the one who had discovered and saved the kitten, he was the first to be able to adopt him if he wished. 12 weeks had passed since the rescue, and Luka longed to see his protege again. He agreed to adopt her.
“ The RSPCA contacted me to ask if I wanted to adopt him. I wasn’t really looking for a kitten, but I was beyond excited to welcome him into my home. I had already become attached to him ,” he said.
Since then, Pippin has integrated his new home and is doing perfectly well on his 3 legs. He does not worry about his difference, is full of vivacity, and loves to play. He is also affectionate and fond of cuddles.
Luka is very grateful to the association as well as to the donors, who have made it possible to change Pippin ‘s life , but also his own.
