This brave kitten battled with the tenacity of a champion against the illness, transforming into the vibrant young adult she is today, brimming with life
When a litter of kittens just 15 days old arrives in foster care, volunteers should expect complications. Cheeky, a baby tortoiseshell, was moving with difficulty, which alerted his benefactress.
Laura is involved in the Cat Adoption Team ( CAT ) association which takes care of stray or abandoned cats. She welcomes into her house cats who need help before they can be adopted.
A few months ago, a litter of 3 adorable 2-week-old kittens was given to her. She bottle-fed them every 2 hours to regain their strength.
15 days after their arrival, Laura noticed that Cheeky , the tortoise shell, had difficulty moving.
The poor little girl could neither move nor sit down. Disturbing motor symptoms for such a young baby.
The Good Samaritan took the little one to the organization’s partner veterinarian . The latter diagnosed Cheeky with toxoplasmosis .
This disease, which can be transmitted to humans, is caused by a parasite present in raw products. The animal doctor therefore placed her on antibiotics for 28 days.
At the same time, Cheeky continued to eat with appetite and made great efforts to overcome her difficulties, coached by her brother and sister.
“After a week , we started to see gradual improvements,”
The young woman then thought that Cheeky ‘s life force was going to bear fruit. “At this point, the fact that she interacts with her companions has helped her a lot ,” added Laura .
The little female has indeed started to eat solid food on her own and to climb on the cat tree . She was also learning to wash like a grown-up.
At 7 weeks, Cheeky was at an ideal weight and healthy. She was therefore able to be proposed for adoption, just like her acolytes.
Luckily, she found her forever home where she met her 2 new dog friends. She takes full advantage of life, to Laura ‘s delight .
