After a kind couple fed a stray cat, she returned with her adorable kitten in tow

It is often said that good things come in small packages, and this lovely story about a stray cat and her kitten proves it.

Ivie Lee and her boyfriend Jason live together in an apartment complex in Pasadena, California.

They often saw a stray cat wandering around near their apartment, so they decided to start leaving food out for her.

They named the stray cat Mary and would always have food for her whenever she showed up.

The couple fed her almost every day for about a year and then one day she just disappeared.

Weeks went by, and Mary still didn’t reappear. They both began to worry that life on the streets had taken it’s toll and the worst had happened to her.

With sadness in their hearts, they resigned to the fact that something awful had happened to Mary.
But not long after she returned, and this time she was not alone.

“Look what happened when she came back!!”  Wrote Ivie on her Twitter page.

So this stray cat had been pregnant and here she was with her only kitten, she had come back to the place that had looked after her and fed her.

This caring couple were so touched by the actions of Mary, she had trusted them enough to bring her only kitten back to them.

Ivie shared a video on Twitter of Mary and her kitten arriving on their doorstep and it quickly went viral.

She then contacted the local animal clinic to discuss their options and to get Mary spayed as quickly as possible.

At the urging of her Twitter friends, Ivie started a GoFundMe to raise money for their unexpected house guests.

They were able to raise $2,000 to pay for medical examinations, shots, food and other expenses.

After a trip to the vet they learned the little kitten was a boy and he was in good health.

The vet began getting Mary ready for her spaying procedure, but there were complications. Mary began bleeding from her abdomen, which wasn’t normal.

He also found growths on her liver, tongue, and upper lip. Ivie and the vet weren’t sure if Mary was going to make it.

But Mary showed herself to be a real fighter and she pulled through. Ivie was relieved and posted an update to her Twitter following:

“Mary made it everyone! She’s currently resting in the little recovery corner we made for her. We’re going to give her some space like our vet suggested. 

And her kitten is doing so well! He’s super energetic and loves to be pet!”

Once Mary had recovered, Ivie and Jason officially adopted her and her baby and they soon settled into their new home.

A lovely ending to a lovely story. Mary knew she had chosen the right humans!
